Here is a piece I did while in Namibia. When they stopped me at customs
on the way into New York and saw this I think they were prepared to give
me a full body-cavity search. However, by the time I was out of there I
think I got a couple of new list members. Breenishness corrupts but
absolute breenishness corrupts absolutely!
"In Africa the police keep the termite men in the circus barn":
Also, a couple of my early breens are being sold on Ebay by a fan who has
apparently shaken off the hypnotic suggestion I implanted in 1999.
Those are:
smelly gas station and
smelly Jesus.
They both involve smelliness, which at the time, was on my mind a lot. I
may attempt to reaquire the gas-station painting myself as I like the name of the
reverend - Baxter - which is the name of one of the evil gunfighter
families in an old Clint Eastwood cowboy movie.

I just got back from Africa and was kind of hoping to get some sort of malarial visions out of it but breenishness doesn't mix well with tribal exotica. Here is a little something I did on the plane over with a gratuitous elephant thrown in.

I did half a breen on the way back. It was a ship painting. I turned the sky salmon and the sea celeste green. I gave the ship corn cobs for sails, put in some pink horseshoe crabs and titled the whole thing - 'Horseshoe crabs have no trouble keeping pace with a corn-sail ship.' I wasn't happy with it though - too cutsey- and I shoved it under the seat like a discarded magazine. Over the next hour or so I amused myself with imagining the cleaning crew coming across this bad breen, a crackpot message in a bottle. I think I did the right thing.
The breenish artist statement contest is almost over. I gave the 20th as a cut off date, but my mailbox filled while i was away so I'm giving everyone another couple of days in case they tried to send me something but it bounced back. A winner will be announced Friday evening - Prize? the breen shown on my homepage, t-shirts for runners up.
