I was originally intending to paint the 'you can't run my life' theme on a Jesus portrait, but the clown portrait in the corner kept insisting that he was perfect for the part! It was an already bizarre painting to begin with, so I didn't need to do much to it. I don't know what is up with the moth on the nose, but I kept it out of respect to the integrity of the original. I put a nun on a trapeze and a B&B type lion in as well.
The clown looks surprised - stunned really, like Jesus must of when the reality of it all became so apparent and he thought, 'What the hell am I doing here!? Just what in Christ's name was I thinking? Though this is barely breened - it is a very powerful piece.

I have huge piles of paintings around my house that I should be breening
and moving out into the world, but I saw this simple seascape at a
yard-sale this weekend and the rocks reminded me of teeth and off I went.
I brought the painting home, and after I started painting on it, my son
helped in additional breenish preparation by repeatedly rolling balls on
it - putting to bed the recent controversy that acrylic paint won't stick
to oil paint.

This is a good-sized breen at 22"X 27.75" The text say, 'Bob pounded his
gums with heavy seas of grog, temporarily drowning his disappointments.'
Bob looks pretty happy here, even though 'love jellyfish' infest the surf,
Cupid is drowned and the siren beckons him with her deadly song! A giant
bottle pours seas of grog (watered down rum) around massive teeth. I added
a gratuitous giant octopus grappling with an ocean liner because it looks
cool. I tried to achieve Procol Harem Salty Dog album cover mad in Bob's
eyes, but of course the obligatory stalk and goofy grin give it a less
intense, different feel.
