Bee Safe Organic Portrait
About 22.5”X18.5” including painted frame
acrylic, oil? on canvas
The "before shot" shows a crude arm and flower, which I had already added before I remembered to take a photo.
This was an odd portrait to begin with - a very masculine guy with a flower hat. I amped up the masculinity with a chiseled chest and the femininity with a crowd of flowers. Then it occurred to me that where you have flowers, you also have bees. So I gave the subject a bee beard. And to keep the bees safe, since they are having so many problems lately, I made the painting organic! Then I hid the text in the flowers. It says, "Bees hide in Jack's organic portrait from neonicotinoid pesticides!"
